A Delegation of the WORLD ISLAMIC ECONOMIC FORUM ,led by Tun Musa Hitam, visited Mauritius on the invitation of Alif Society. The contact with WIEF was established during the 5th WIEF forum in Jakarta.

The delegation paid courtesy calls on the Minister of Finance, Mr. V. Lutchmeenaraidoo and the PM , Mr Pravin Jugnauth. The WIEF delegation proposed to organise its annual meeting in 2018. Unfortunately, there was no follow-up and Mauritius lost the chance to benefit from the capital of the Muslim world.
