In 1998, Dawood Auleear attended a conference organised by IIUM at the Putra World Trade Centre. The meeting was to establish networking among Muslim organisations. The President had wanted to meet with Malaysian Universities and UPM was the only one to have acceded to our request. The first meeting led to a second one when an MoU was signed between ALIF  and UPM.

It was the visionary mind and the generosity of the then Vice Chancellor, Tan Sri Syed Jalaluddin Syed Salim which have permitted over 100 Mauritian students to graduate from this prestigious University.
